OZ Architecture used BIM (Building Information Modeling) highly successfully on the Community College of Denver’s Student Learning and Engagement Building. OZ used the 3-dimensional model in the early stages for options exploration and visualization of interior and exterior spaces. Being able to understand the building from the onset allows for early decision making and thus a more efficient collaboration process. This tool became invaluable when analyzing building performance, structural analysis, collision detection and energy conservation. The benefits run all the way through construction as well, through time/cost savings from systems coordination, conflict resolution, cost estimating and overall fabrication & construction. The entire design and construction process went very smoothly and CCD was the beneficiary.
