The Fitness Club at Sonnenalp Club in Edwards, Colorado reached a milestone, completing the first phase of construction on June 1st. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held by the owners to celebrate this exciting achievement.
Since March 2014, the club has undergone design and extensive remodeling including additions as well as updated branding and signage to modernize its presence to the exclusive community. Along with giving Sonnenalp a modern and sleek appeal, the concept was developed to open the Sonnenalp Club to the gorgeous surrounding valley.
With construction continuing through the winter, the first phase included the expansion of the fitness area, once located in the basement of the club. This area now includes a new lobby, a fully glazed open gym, a yoga and group training studio, and a state of the art spin/cycling studio.
The Open Gym has sweeping views of the rolling valley and a connection to the forthcoming restaurant and juice bar, Harvest by Kelly Liken. The Yoga Room, on the ground floor, is also designed to bring the outdoors in with large operable glass doors opening to the pool deck and creating another opportunity to take in the view. The Spin Studio has hi-tech stationary bikes for cutting edge work-outs complete with glass openings to allow for natural light and fresh ventilation.
Continuing with the concept, the exterior finishes include natural materials as another nod to the Edwards landscape while, the cantilevered gym serves as a beacon upon approach and a transition to the early more traditional facility. The owners couldn’t be more thrilled with the new energy and life these design elements bring to the fitness club (previously a single room in the basement with zero natural light). This refreshes The Fitness Club at Sonnenalp to families and the community by creating a more approachable feel. What a difference!
The restaurant addition, Harvest by Kelly Liken, is anticipated to finish construction before the end of the month.
