Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) has a 40 year history in Denver, strengthening Colorado by investing in affordable housing and community development. CHFA had been in their downtown 5-story building for over 25 years and was committed to transforming the space to reflect their collaborative, fun culture. OZ facilitated a visioning process with leadership that led to new ways of working and guided the new workplace strategy. Engagement with staff revealed an active, diverse and connected group.
The new design creates small neighborhoods of teams, allowing each employee access to daylight and downtown views. A variety of space types encourage staff to connect in central coffee bars, informal meeting spaces and quiet areas. Meeting spaces are provided with current technology required to support efficiency. Previously enclosed in private offices, spectacular mountain views are available to all employees in Red Rocks, the large collaborative hub. This space is flanked by a large training room and the break room, creating a gathering space for all-hands meetings and community-focused events. Training spaces and formal meeting rooms adjacent to the reception double as community space, supporting CHFA’s partners and local non-profits. Through understanding the new work flow and gained efficiencies in the space plan, CHFA is able to lease a full floor; thus creating additional revenue.
