Creating a safe place for neighborhood youth to go after school was the driving force for this facility, the result of four years of community visioning, planning, and decision-making. Designed with residential forms to blend with the surrounding neighborhood and convey a sense of shelter, the building is divided into two areas — one for elementary age kids and one for teens. Activity areas include a recreation room, a cultural arts room, a technology/computer lab, a commercial grade kitchen and a full gym. The Center also houses Mi Casa Resource Center, adding another dimension to this neighborhood resource.
I am elated for the community and for the Boys & Girls Clubs...it is truly the best and safest facility we've built in 52 years.
