On December 12th, a team of OZ employees participated in the 17th annual “We Care” Event at the local George M. Wilfley Boys & Girls Club. The Denver Boys & Girls Clubs, Herman Miller, and twenty local Architecture and Design firms host this event for several hundred children each year. This year the WE CARE Denver reached over 450 children below the poverty level.
This year’s event provided a holiday season party filled with crafts, games, food, and even a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The crafts gave children the opportunity to make gifts for their friends and family, while also providing a night of holiday excitement. Children were able to choose from five or six holiday-themed crafts out of the dozens provided by local Architecture and Design firms. This years ornaments were designed by Becky Dauer from OZ, and the laser time and production was donated by Neal Lake, a friend of OZ.
The OZ team, led by Justin Martinez, designed a number of holiday-themed laser-cut ornaments and jewelry charms which children then decorated. The night was best described by first time participate, Narisara Sarobhas, who said “‘We Care’ was such a memorable event! It was a great bonding experience for OZites to give back to our community.”
Many people from OZ donated time, crafting supplies, and money to make this event happen this year. WE CARE is an OZ tradition that has had many years of past success and will have many years of future success allowing the children of the Boys and Girls Club’s of Denver to give hand crafted gifts from their heart this season.
