As the year comes to a close and we all begin to think about our 2016 New Year’s resolutions, we are reminded of those we set in 2015, and would like to thank a few that helped motivate us.
During the annual Alternative Transportation Challenge, held from May thru September, OZites walked, jogged, biked, rollerbladed, carpooled and mass commuted a total of 20,305 miles this summer, saving over 8,000 pounds of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere during their commutes. Special thank you to Epic Brewery, Car2Go, Smartwool, and B-cycle for the awesome prizes they donated for the challenge!
From October 15 – 29th, OZ participated in the Northwest Earth Institute’s EcoChallenge for the first time. For two weeks, participants were challenged to change one habit that benefits both the participant and the planet. More than 15 OZites participated with personal challenges ranging from water conservation, to meatless meals, to selecting organic food choices. Together and in just two weeks, we saved over 1,012 gallons of water and 26 lbs of C02, enjoyed 34 meatless meals, and contributed many other environmental benefits!
