On July 20th, OZ Architecture along with Formativ Development and the River North Art District hosted the first-of-its-kind World Trade Center Denver Artist Charrette here at OZ ‘s design studio in RiNo. The workshop-style collaboration invited artists to contribute their ideas of how art and artists can be integrated into and around the upcoming World Trade Center Denver campus.
Over 45 artists attended to engage with architects, developers, community members and business leaders on how the World Trade Center Denver development can help to support and expand the artist community in Denver. Ideas were shared, connections were made and the energy was contagious as those in attendance discussed temporary and permanent exhibition space, paid public art commissions, interactive installations, open and private studio space, as well as global artists exposure and trade opportunities. Site plans were provided for artists to put their thoughts on paper whether it be sketching out an installation or creating a wish-list to consider as the project develops.
There will be several more World Trade Center Denver Artists Charrettes in order to continue the community involvement and ensure artists have a say in the World Trade Center Denver project from concept to construction and beyond. The charrette is open to the public and to all artists, so keep an eye out for the next invite!
