The world’s largest producer of salt, boron, and talc, Rio Tinto Minerals merged subsidiaries US Borax  and Luzenac into their new corporate headquarters.  Relocated to an existing office building and utilizing elements of RTM’s Global Workplace Standards, the first challenge was to blend significantly different business cultures into an energetic, international environment with a new corporate identity.   It was key that this environment reflect RTM’s corporate mission, including collaboration and strong sustainable values.  The design integrates the talc lab in Colorado and the borate lab from California, combining functions into a single 20,000 sf Research & Development lab that meets EPA’s Labs 21 criteria. Throughout the space, materials manufactured by RTM customers are incorporated.
