Last year, the OZ-designed Limelight Hotel in Aspen, Snowmass opened its doors, giving Snowmass Base Village the anchoring hotel and outdoor community gathering space it long needed.
We are pleased to announce that earlier this year the Limelight Hotel joined the impressive list of buildings OZ has designed that meet the stringent standards of becoming LEED-certified, both for the hotel itself, and for the surrounding base area, which earned a LEED Neighborhood Development Plan Certification.
“We are proud to have worked with Aspen Skiing Company as the operations partner on the Limelight as they have been at the forefront as industry leaders in the hospitality realm of climate action, social justice and sustainable operations” said Mairi Mashburn, of OZ Architecture. At its most basic, responsible, and sustainable design is constantly evolving because the technologies, materials and methods are both innovative and cutting edge. OZ is committed to pushing the design envelope every step of the way.
OZ is committed to pushing the boundaries of responsible impact on the environment and is interested in carbon-neutral buildings and major renovations. “To achieve this goal, we strive to ensure that part of the experience of any resort includes buildings and landscape that show appreciation, resilience and respect for the environment in which they sit”, states Rebecca Stone, OZ Principal and Resort & Hospitality Leader “In doing so, we are committed to an ethos of positive impact – where our OZ culture, our workplace and our broad spectrum of project work reflects our belief that the buildings and communities we design should positively impact the places they inhabit.”
For decades OZ has been at the forefront of sustainable design. The Limelight Snowmass’ LEED certifications are a welcome addition to the unparalleled list of sustainable design projects lead by OZ. Congratulations to the entire Limelight Hotel team!
