Boulder Valley School District had two parallel projects–first, to remodel the school, and second to create the spaces that support innovation in education. OZ immediately recognized the value in combining the two projects, both budget and scope, and the school was able to update their image and reposition the learning environments. The school’s highly visible corridors were updated to a more mature and relevant finish scheme. The learning environments were enhanced by creating a variety of spaces allowing for presentations, small group innovations, project explorations, and focused individual learning. Additionally, the broken partitions were replaced with hard walls or new acoustical glass operable partitions, ensuring teachers have the choice between a standard classroom for traditional instruction or a connected pair of rooms that allow for team teaching.
