Denver’s Mile-High lifestyle and culture magazine, 5280, recently published its “Design Lover’s Guide to RiNo,” — a field guide to the most inspiring and creative design projects in the neighborhood, which was recently deemed one of the “coolest neighborhoods in America” by Lonely Planet and Food & Wine.
In the 5280 piece, writer Daliah Singer writes extensively about some of the most exciting, interesting and up-and-coming projects in the neighborhood. Several top OZ projects are highlighted. Singer touts Bar Helix as a sparkling space maximized by smart interior planning and branding, including a Champagne bubble-inspired backlit bar. She applauds the forthcoming World Trade Center in particular for its planned elevated garden, a direct result of OZ Architecture’s biophilic design. She applauds Giambrocco — the mixed-use development as “the city’s first Woonerf, a living-street concept borrowed from the Dutch in which pedestrians, bikes, and cars all share space.”
It doesn’t stop there. OZ Architecture’s aptitude for mixed-use design also take shape in Bindery on Blake with clerestory windows that wash the former printing factory-turned-creative retail and art studio with natural light. What’s more, 2800 Walnut Street houses three upscale showrooms in the former Gold Star Sausage factory, preserving a once iconic space as a modern polestar for style gurus.
The article goes into detail about specific building height requirements, zoning, green spaces, and parking, with emphasis on the collaborative efforts of developers, neighborhood groups and the community. We at OZ Architecture are proud of the role we continue to play in the evolution of this dynamic Denver district we call our creative playground. After all, we live and breathe the shifting landscape here in River North every day. As a result, we see firsthand what works, what won’t work, and what could work with smart architecture and design.
For us, it’s about protecting the elements that make RiNo interesting and uncommon, and coming together with the community to ensure that we honor our untamed nature even as we modernize.
