Send us to Austin! Vote for OZ Architecture’s SXSW Panel

August 29, 2018

Each year, thousands of creatives, experts, educations and consumers converge in Austin, Texas for SXSW to discuss how innovations in technology, design, education and other industries are changing the way we live. This fast-paced and innovative conference is an ideal venue to discover the ways in which design impacts our everyday lives.

This year, OZ has proposed a panel titled, “Designing in Extreme Environments: Equator to Pole” where we hope to discuss how designing in extreme environments is, well, extreme. As you can probably imagine, harsh climates introduce design challenges and it becomes even more imperative to create buildings that respond to prevailing conditions, both as a protective measure, but also for the future generations that occupy these near impossible construction environments.

Our panel brings together Deputy Editor of Fast Co. Design, Kelsey Campbell-Dollaghan, and OZ Architecture Principals Rick Petersen and Steve Brooks, in a thought provoking discussion about extreme environment projects including a city at the bottom of the world, a 5,000-acre city at the equator, and a hotel oasis in scorching Death Valley.

SXSW programming is driven in part by public vote through the online SXSW PanelPicker, which allows the community to share input as to the conference programs, presentations, and panel discussions. Public votes account for 30% of the final selection process. We need your help and engagement to get us to Austin!

Ready? VOTE UP for DESIGNING IN EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS: EQUATOR TO POLE. Voting ends August 31.
