OZ in Travel and Leisure's 2026 Best Resorts in Colorado

July 20, 2026

We are proud to see four OZ-designed destinations recognized in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2026 under Best Resorts in Colorado. With Sonnenalp Hotel ranked first, The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa in third, Viceroy Snowmass in fifth, and The Broadmoor in sixth, this recognition reflects both the consistency and range of our hospitality work across the region. It is meaningful to have multiple projects represented in a single category, each shaped by a distinct context yet aligned through a shared design approach rooted in clarity, craft, and experience.

Across new developments and the ongoing transformation of legacy properties, our work is focused on creating distinct, memorable experiences through integrated architecture and interior design. We approach each project as a response to its place, brand, and audience, balancing operational performance with a strong sense of identity. Our portfolio continues to evolve through collaboration with clients, operators, and consultant teams, and these outcomes highlight the value of that process.

Sonnenalp Hotel | Vail, CO

At Sonnenalp Hotel, our work centered on carefully evolving a legacy destination while preserving its character as a family-owned property rooted in Bavarian tradition. Through close collaboration with ownership and stakeholders, we developed a design approach that balances heritage with modern expectations for comfort and functionality. Our role included integrated architectural and interior enhancements, refining key spaces to improve flow, cohesion, and guest experience. Each intervention was designed to feel natural to the property, supporting its identity as an intimate alpine retreat.

The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa | Avon, CO

Located along the Eagle River, The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa called for a design that reflects both its mountain setting and Westin’s wellness-driven brand. Our work focused on creating a clear relationship between planning, movement, and experience. Through coordinated architectural and interior design, we shaped spaces that connect indoor and outdoor environments, enhance circulation, and support a wide range of guest activities. The result is a resort that feels open and accessible, where views, amenities, and movement patterns work together to support both energy and restoration.

Viceroy Snowmass | Snowmass Village, CO

At Viceroy Snowmass, we helped translate a global luxury brand into a setting that reflects the character of the Rocky Mountains. Our role included concept refinement, spatial planning, and interior design integration, ensuring the finished project delivers a cohesive and high-performing guest environment. The design balances a contemporary, design-forward identity with the warmth and durability required of a mountain resort. Located within Snowmass Base Village, the project contributes to a more active and connected destination, reinforcing both its immediate setting and its broader context.

The Broadmoor | Colorado Springs, CO

Our work at The Broadmoor has focused on select developments that extend the resort’s long-standing legacy. This includes residential-style cottages and brownstones that offer a more private guest experience while remaining aligned with the property’s architectural language. Through architectural design and interior concepts, we supported the integration of new and renovated spaces that reflect the same level of craftsmanship and attention to detail found throughout the resort. Each addition is designed to feel consistent with the broader identity of The Broadmoor while meeting evolving expectations for comfort and privacy.
