OZ’s reinvention of gastropub Argyll Whisky Beer was based on a deconstructed version of the owner’s Scottish clan crest, elements of which are found throughout the restaurant. A warm palette emphasized the renovated space’s rugged elegance. A blend of modern, industrial, Victorian, and one-of-a-kind elements take cues from the classic gastropub while creating a unique experience. Developed with the space, the Argyll brand is reflected in custom-designed graphic wall coverings, a logo branded into the entry floor, and menus. Skylights capture light during the daytime, and glass defines the space without visual obstruction. During evening hours, decorative lights cast a warm glow, shifting the space from bright to intimate. The flexible space plan is organized to delineate several separate areas with different seating options that can be arranged depending on use. A whiskey library, community/chef’s table, atrium, bar, and two outdoor spaces complete the Argyll experience.
