Children's Museum of Denver

The Children’s Museum of Denver represents a complete transformation of a treasured community institution. In addressing identity, safety, building performance and programming challenges, OZ began by leading feasibility studies to set strategy and support land acquisition. We then developed and captured a concept vision to support fundraising during challenging economic times. Upon successful fundraising, OZ developed the design of a new entry sequence and exterior aesthetics, and collaborated with Mundus Bishop to create a unique outdoor play experiences that has become an international model.

Within this new exterior are key new spaces to widely expand the Museum’s educational programming. In this mode, OZ collaborated closely with Museum staff educators and exhibit designers to create inspiring and durable spaces to explore water, sky, topography, food, and art. Along with educational spaces that double as flexible collaboration spaces, it also serves as an income-producing event space. In this mode, the Museum gains both monetary resources to enhance educational programs, and it gains an broader audience of support within our community.
