Nederland Community Library

The Nederland Community Library is a compact building that integrates well into the neighborhood commercial zoning district. Parking is accessed from the Peak to Peak Highway and the library has pedestrian access from West 2nd and West 3rd Streets. A dedicated town trail permits access through the site and across a new pedestrian bridge at North Beaver Creek. The library includes expanded space for the book collections as well as for public use of computers, reading areas, and work tables. A multi-purpose room was created to accommodate children’s story hours, small meetings, craft projects, book talks and public presentations. The building is designed to bring the community in and provide an outdoor seating/gathering area along the creek. Local stone, wood and glass were incorporated into the exterior and interior, reminding visitors of the beauty of this community. We worked with a local metal artist to create a gate that provides security, but is a work of art in itself.
