Rocky Mountain Fire Rescue Station No. 6

This station resides in the rural valley east of Eldorado Springs surrounded by Boulder open space and backed by the Flatiron Mountains. The station provides state-of-the-art apparatus storage, living quarters, and administration offices in a traditional mountain ranch design, blending with the beauty and ranching history of the area. In efforts to reduce the apparatus bay size and still provide the need space for the department, a smaller out building was designed to house specialty rescue equipment including a snow cat. Due to the location of this station, the district is responsible for technical rescue of fallen climbers and hikers from nearby Eldorado Canyon State Park. To reduce medical response and evacuation times in this remote area, OZ designed the helipad adjacent to the fire station.
