A beloved Front Range institution, the Butterfly Pavilion is planning to nearly triple its size and relocate from Westminster to Broomfield’s emerging Baseline community. OZ Architecture, with design consultant Lake Flato, was selected to lead the design of this 90,000 sf facility to represent an international center for the study of invertebrates, which constitute 97% of all the world’s animals. The Butterfly Pavilion is located adjacent to natural open spaces and aquatic wetlands. Further, it will act as a catalyst to enrich a growing community. In response, the design features numerous indoor-outdoor spaces and welcoming connections to the neighboring pedestrian paths, roadways and parking areas.
