Building on a history of work with the National Park Service and existing projects at the Grand Canyon, OZ is working in collaboration with Xanterra Parks and Resorts to recreate the Maswik South Lodges Complex. The new 5 building complex replaces the 6 existing buildings while adding 30 additional guestrooms, with increased ADA access and provisions. The Lobby Building has been designed for check-in, reception, simple food and beverage operations, and group gatherings and functions. The guestrooms are placed around the site to maximize views to the surrounding forest, simplify vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and provide exterior program spaces. Each guestroom provides a private bathroom, sitting area, amenity counter, closet, and balcony with a mix of king and double queen beds and connecting rooms to meet the program. The design team has focused on achieving USGBC LEED Gold level requirements for this project.
