OZ transformed the former Stapleton Airport Tower into this dynamic social experience in one of Denver’s hottest neighborhoods. True to the Punch Bowl Social brand, this adaptive re-use project preserved a historic icon in Denver, requiring in-depth infrastructure improvements as well as the addition of 6,000 sf on the ground floor to fit the bowling program. The design of this entertainment venue took cues from the old airport, saved the iconic tower, and removed original materials and reapplied them to tell the story of Denver’s past. An expansive outdoor space including bocce courts, fire pits, and an 18-inch-deep “swimming pool” create a family friendly environment where the indoors spills to the outdoors. Inside, aesthetic themes of the “golden age of flight” take shape in the décor including wallpaper of aerial landscapes, mid-mod inspired furnishings, and touchpoints of vintage carrier luggage and plane shaped cut outs.
