The Village at North Star was the starting point for sweeping improvements to the highly ranked Lake Tahoe ski area, and the first resort village to become LEED Certified.
Each building in the village was designed in the spirit of the grand lodges of our National Parks. Two condominiums, Iron North and Iron South, address key arrival points and were designed to capture an authentic Western Sierra Nevada charm, setting the tone for the rest of the Village. The Great Bear Lodge is another village housing option, boasting 28 residences, a skier service building, restaurants, day care, a theater, and retail space all connected to the nearby slopes. An outdoor ice rink serves as a focal point for the village and is the apres-ski location of choice for visitors.
OZ also collaborated on the design of the The Ritz-Carlton resort, Lake Tahoe’s first five star-caliber hotel. The resort includes a Lodge with 170 rooms, 23 high-end penthouse residences, and 28 vacation club ownership units. The design also features a “Headhouse” reminiscent of the early national park lodges of the Northwest, adapting this style to thoroughly modern facilities. The resort offers ski in/ski out for guests and owners, along with a full-service spa, conference facilities, and a selection of casual and fine dining.
